Not many people have two weddings but Mundeep and Narinder first celebrated a western style wedding last August with a ceremony at their private residence then a stylish high tea at Joseph Alexanders, where cinnamon sticks with cymbidium orchids accented each guest’s place card.

Later in February they were married “again” in the Sikh temple, and next day danced the night away at a Bollywood themed affair in the spacious Hilton Ballroom.

Orange and green predominated – Mundeep, wearing an emerald green traditional Punjabi suit and carrying a posy of orange and yellow calla lilies plus mini pineapple with jewel accents for the private garden ceremony.  For the temple ceremony ruby pink was the colour of the day. Even Narinder got in on the action with his turban and long shawl. The bride wore a Sari with gold thread embroidery -- with henna hands (and feet) – brides don’t carry a bouquet for this ceremony.  At the reception tall translucent candlesticks with orange lilies and green orchids with gem highlights graced each guest table.  These tables were named after significant places from the couples’ original homes of Singapore –such as “Raffles Hotel” and Malaysia. The bridal table displays also included chocolate coloured anthuriums, dried lotus pods and green jewelled grass clusters as added embellishments.
